Shortcrust Pastry

An electric stand mixer is ideal for taking all the effort out of making this pastry.

Ingredients:

  • 150g plain flour
  • 75g butter, cut into cubes and best at room temperature
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoon water

Method:

  1. Put everything into the mixing bowl of the stand mixer and mix on low-to-medium speed for a few minutes, or until all the butter is well broken up.
  2. Remove the bowl from the stand mixer and use your hands to press the crumbs in the bowl into a smooth ball of dough.
  3. Wrap the ball of dough in cling film and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Makes enough for a pie for 4 people.
