This is a great way to get nice and tender minute steaks (sometimes called sizzler steaks), for a quick mid-week dish.
Serves 4.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp mustard powder
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 3 tbsp light soy sauce
- 3 tbsp Henderson's Relish (or Worcester Sauce if you want to go for second best)
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed in a garlic crusher
- 4 thinly cut minute or sizzler steaks (generally topside or silverside), about 350g
Method
- Mix all the ingredients other than the steak in a shallow bowl with a whisk until well combined.
- Add the steak to the mixture, turn over so it's coated well and marinade for at least 8 hours and up to 48 hours. Turn it every 8 hours or so if you're going for a longer marinade.
- Pre-heat a cast iron pan (or barbecue) on a high heat.
- Fry the steaks for about a minute on each side for rare, 2 minutes on each side for well done.
- Serve with potatoes and fresh green vegetables, such as broccoli or a lightly dressed salad.
